Whether someone extends a hand, offers help, or merely acknowledges us with a nod or a “hi,” our response is essential. Introversion is not an excuse for ignoring a friendly gesture; a simple nod in return can mean the world to someone.

Being present in the lives of others is a priceless gift. I’ve experienced this firsthand when my presence at a networking dinner led to an invitation to speak in Europe. I noticed two people who were not as engaged in the merry-making as the rest and decided to engage them in conversation. Little did I know that this interaction would take me on a journey thousands of miles away.
